To: All members of the UBC Vancouver community — faculty, staff, students and Postdoctoral fellows
Further to the broadcast email of March 14, I am pleased to advise that the Presidentís Advisory Committee met for the first time on April 10 to review the search process. The committee heard from Rachel Kuske, the Senior Advisor on Women Faculty, about equity and diversity in the recruitment and selection process. The committee determined that this will be an internal search.
The committee developed a draft Position Profile which lays out the opportunities and challenges within the Faculty, and the ideal qualifications for the next Dean. The committeeís suggestions for revisions have been incorporated; we welcome any comments you may have. The documents may be found at: www.vpacademic.ubc.ca. The Call for Applications will also be published in the May 2 edition of the UBC Reports. The Position Profile is the document that will be used to attract interest in the position.
I encourage you to forward me any suggested names of potential candidates for the position. Applicants should submit their current CV and letter of interest by Thursday, May 30 to: firstname.lastname@example.org or by confidential fax at 604-822-3134. The complete position profile may be found at: www.vpacademic.ubc.ca. Questions may be directed to David Farrar, Chair of the Selection Committee, c/o Mary Hayden at: email@example.com
All discussion relating to names, or other identifying details, of potential candidates will be kept strictly confidential to the members of the search committee.
The next phase of the search process is a confidential one, during which the committee will review and consider potential applicants. I will continue to update the Faculty as the search progresses.
David H. Farrar
