You’ll want to be one of 10,000 fans at Thunderbird Stadium for the biggest event of the year #UBCHomecoming 2016! This UBC tradition starts on Saturday, September 17th at the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre where it kicks off with the Great Thunderbird Trek and carries on to a high-energy pre-game street party at Thunderbird Stadium. Wear your ‘Blue and Gold’ and come cheer on the 2016 Vanier Cup Champion UBC Thunderbirds football team as they take on Regina. As I approach the end of my first month as President, I would like to thank you for making my family and I feel welcome. I have been impressed by everything I’ve encountered at UBC, and I feel privileged to lead such a wonderful institution.

Sexual Assault Policy Update

n recent months UBC has made significant strides to improve its policies and practices for addressing and responding to sexual assault.

Recognizing the importance of this issue, I wanted to share some updates around progress and next steps. These include an extension of the consultation process and a series of information sessions.

Message from Professor Santa Ono – developing a new UBC vision

One of my top priorities over the coming academic year will be the development of a new vision and strategic plan for UBC.

UBC has been extremely well served by Place and Promise, the plan introduced in 2009 by President Stephen Toope; since then, however, the world has changed in many ways, and our university needs to revisit its goals and priorities to reflect those changes.
