To: Faculty in Vancouver and the Okanagan

Last month, UBC announced that Dr. Dermot Kelleher has been appointed Vice-President, Health, beginning July 1. In his role, Dr. Kelleher will support the work of UBC Health by strengthening the university’s links with the provincial government, B.C. health authorities and collaborative frameworks such as the Academic Health Sciences Network. The role will also help facilitate greater collaboration and integration in research and learning across the university, with particular focus on large-scale grants and new program development.

To support Dr. Kelleher and the UBC Health portfolio, we have started a process to appoint a new role of Associate Vice-President, Health. A search committee is being formed pursuant to the procedures for the recommendation and selection of senior academic administrators set out in Policy 18 (https://universitycounsel.ubc.ca/files/2018/06/policy18.pdf).

Two faculty members – one from the Okanagan campus and one from the Vancouver campus – are to be elected to this search committee. Nominations are due by 4pm on Monday, July 16, 2018. All nominees are asked to ensure that they are available for meetings over the summer and early fall.

For more information and to download a nomination form, please visit https://facultystaff.students.ubc.ca/node/291. Please also note that ‘faculty member’ is a defined term in the University Act and does not include adjunct, clinical, emeritus, honorary, partner, or sessional appointments.
