ShakeOut BC, Canada’s largest earthquake drill is on October 15 at 10:15 am and I encourage everyone on campus to Drop, Cover and Hold On wherever you might be.
If you’re registered for UBC Alert you’ll receive a text message at 10:15 am on the 15th notifying you of ShakeOut. UBC Alert is an important part of maintaining safety and security during an emergency on campus; please make sure your contact information is up to date on www.msp.ubc.ca.
ShakeOut BC is also a timely reminder to develop a self-recovery plan, and to ensure your emergency kit is prepared. A thorough list of things to consider having in your emergency kit at work or at home can be found on our website, in addition to where kits can be purchased, how to make a self-recovery plan and what to do once an earthquake stops.
