We are pleased to provide a further update on the Presidential search process.
We are delighted to share with the UBC community that, after completing comprehensive interviews with each of our shortlisted candidates, we have arrived at a list of three excellent and diverse finalists. As a committee, we continue to be impressed by the sincere interest and enthusiasm demonstrated by the shortlisted candidates. There is also a great sense of pride at the affirmation of UBC’s stature and promise on the world stage that has been consistently expressed during the shortlisted interviews.
Each of our three finalist candidates believe UBC is in a unique position to fulfill its potential to be one of the world’s leading universities of the 21st century, a university committed to providing an outstanding student experience, leading research, and a university relevant to the rapidly changing world in which we live. We will conduct final in-depth interviews with the finalist candidates later this month with the goal to reach a decision for recommendation to the UBC Board of Governors. We remain on track to announce our new President by June 30.
In closing, we collectively again take this opportunity to thank the UBC community for its ongoing support of the search process, and we look forward to announcing the next President who will lead us into our second century.
