The UBC community United Way campaign officially opened in October with a Week of Caring. Information about the campaign is online at http://www.unitedway.ubc.ca.

I personally support the United Way, and I encourage you to consider making a donation. On October 11, you should have received a personalized email from unitedwayeaccess@uwlm.ca inviting you to make a payroll pledge online.

To give you some idea of the difference your gift can make:

  • A gift of as little as $5 per pay period provides nine British Columbians with access to a 24/7 helpline for the social services they need throughout the year.
  • $10 per pay period provides two children the opportunity to participate in an after-school program during the school year.
  • $25 per pay period connects one low-income refugee family with a variety of gardening and food preparation skills.

In addition to making a difference, if you make a payroll pledge by November 18th you will be entered in a draw to have lunch with me in the new year.

Whatever you feel able to give, thank you for your support of the United Way campaign. Your dollars are invested into many Lower Mainland communities and benefit thousands of people of all ages.

Together, we are possibility.
