Help shape UBC’s Next Century

To: Faculty, staff and students in Vancouver and the Okanagan

As our university enters its next century, we have an opportunity to shape UBC’s future through a new vision and strategic plan.

As you may have seen in previous messages, UBC is embarking upon a comprehensive strategic planning process. Our new strategic plan will serve as a road map, helping us to focus even more intently on our core priorities of education and research.

Today a series of web pages has launched with further information about the process, including a timeline and details of how to get involved. I encourage you to visit the website at www.ubc.ca/strategicplan.

I also invite you to join me live on Facebook at 4.30pm tomorrow (Feb 15) as I discuss the strategic planning process and answer your questions about the plan. This live event will be moderated by UBC Journalism Senior Instructor Kathryn Gretsinger. Also joining me will be special guests Professor Linc Kesler, Director of the UBC First Nations House of Learning and Senior Advisor to the President on Aboriginal Affairs, and Lisa Castle, Vice-President, Human Resources.

Go to https://www.facebook.com/universityofbc/ at 4:30pm tomorrow to participate. If you are not able to join tomorrow’s event, you will be able to replay it on Facebook afterwards, using the same link.

Please also be assured that there will be additional opportunities to share your voice on the strategic plan. This is a great opportunity to help shape the future of our university and, whatever your role at UBC, I hope you will take part.
