I am very pleased to announce that the Board of Governors has approved the extension of Dr. Deborah Buszard’s appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) and Principal of UBC’s Okanagan campus for a three-year term, effective 1 July 2017.

Dr. Buszard has made many important contributions during her first term as DVC, including overseeing the significant growth of the campus and raising its profile in the region, provincially and across Canada.

In 2014, she spearheaded the successful ASPIRE campus plan which set a clear direction for UBC Okanagan’s academic and research strategies. Under her guidance, UBC Okanagan increased its research income and implemented several innovative aboriginal access programs. During Dr. Buszard’s first term, the Okanagan campus also completed its first campus fundraising campaign, raising a remarkable $100M in support of students, programs and research.

I am excited to continue working with Dr. Buszard over the next three years. Dr. Buszard’s thoughtful leadership will continue to strengthen our university as we look towards the future. Please join me in congratulating her on the extension of her appointment.
