Help build a more inclusive UBC

If you are a manager of staff whose work is not computer-based, please print this email and display it in a common work area for them to review.

As one of Canada’s best diversity employers, we recognize the positive impact that welcoming and inclusive environments have on the wellbeing, experiences, sense of belonging, and success of our students, faculty, and staff.

Building on the commitment to inclusion and inclusive excellence found in UBC’s strategic plan, the Equity & Inclusion Office, in collaboration with our UBC community, is now leading efforts to develop an Inclusion Action Plan.

Today, we are launching an online survey, to give UBC students, faculty and staff an opportunity to help shape our efforts going forward.

The survey seeks to identify feedback and ideas with respect to proposed areas of focus, and generate ideas for action. I encourage you to take the time to complete the survey, which should only take 15-20 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous.

To complete the survey, visit:https://ubc.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1SonnMVis8mojsh

Printed copies are also available from the Equity & Inclusion Office. Please contactinfo@equity.ubc.ca.

The deadline for responses is March 30, 2019.

In addition to the survey, there will be in-person opportunities to share your views through a series of conversation ‘pop-up’ events. The Equity & Inclusion Office will also be gathering input from existing groups and under-represented members of our community. For more information, visit equity.ubc.ca/iap.

I hope you will take the time to complete the survey or attend an event. Together we can build a more inclusive and welcoming community in which to live, work and learn.
