I wish to announce that I am launching a global search for a suitable candidate for the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal, UBC Okanagan.
Professor Deborah Buszard will complete her term in this role on June 30, 2020. Professor Buszard has achieved a great deal in building the UBC Okanagan campus to what it is today — a thriving, growing, top university campus in British Columbia, Canada and globally.
She has established a culture of excellence in teaching and research, student learning, support and wellbeing, and community and alumni engagement. She has connected the UBC Okanagan campus to Vancouver and the Okanagan community, and built strong relationships for further growth and leadership in the region.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal (DVC) reports to me and provides leadership to the Okanagan campus to accomplish the vision, commitments, goals, and actions as set out in the university’s strategic plan. As an integral member of the senior leadership team, the DVC supports the Board of Governors in exercising their governance responsibilities, and works collaboratively with leadership and management across the university, and with key external stakeholders, to enhance the student learning and research achievement on the Okanagan campus.
In accordance with UBC Policy #18, I have established an advisory committee to support this search process. The committee consists of:
