Help build a more inclusive UBC — complete the Employment Equity Survey by Oct. 29

If you are a manager of staff whose work is not computer-based, please print this email and display it in a common work area for them to review.

As part of UBC’s ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive and diverse workforce, we are asking all faculty and staff in Vancouver and the Okanagan to complete the Employment Equity Survey by October 29.

This year, the survey has been significantly improved based on your feedback. It offers more options for self-identification and uses up-to-date terminology to allow for enhanced analysis and understanding of the composition and diversity of UBC’s workforce. These updates will allow leadership at all levels to have access to better employment equity data to make real change — to take concrete steps to identify and remove systemic barriers to equity in recruitment, employment, retention and promotion, and report on progress towards a more equitable and inclusive UBC.

UBC has made equity, diversity and inclusion an institutional priority. Still, we know that some in our community continue to experience inequities. As a university, we’re committed to doing better, building more inclusive and equitable teaching and working spaces, and creating a workforce that is reflective of the diversity of our student body and the wider community. This short and confidential survey is critical to informing those efforts.

We recognize that some of you may have already completed a version of this survey earlier this year or in previous years; we are now asking all faculty and staff — regardless of whether you have previously participated — to complete the new survey. While you are required to complete the Employment Equity Survey, you may choose not to provide responses to the survey questions.

Complete the survey at: https://wd10.myworkday.com/ubc/email-universal/inst/17219$21/rel-task/2997$10955.htmld.

Privacy and Confidentiality

We understand that some of you may feel vulnerable and hesitant to share your information. All data collected is confidential, analyzed anonymously, and presented on an aggregate level — no one is identified by name. All survey data is stored on UBC systems, is confidential, and individual responses are not shared with your manager or supervisor.
