UBC is undertaking several coordinated strategies to improve policies and practices that address sexual assault and sexual harassment in our community. I have highlighted below the actions of two groups working toward this aim: the University Sexual Assault Panel who are gathering input on a UBC-wide sexual assault action plan and the Sexual Assault Policy Committee who are developing a new sexual assault policy.
After more than a decade of outstanding service to UBC as Vice-President, Research and International, Dr. John Hepburn has announced he is stepping down effective May 28 to assume a new role as Vice-President, Research at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research in Toronto.
The UBC Board of Governors has invited representatives of student, faculty, staff and alumni groups to attend tomorrow’s board meeting for a discussion on governance. In addition to the verbal presentations and discussion at the meeting, the board welcomes additional written submissions to bog.ubc@ubc.ca.
